Conditions of Entry

Introduction

The “International School Movie Festival” supports creativity and visual arts education.

During the finals in Sanremo, the authors of the movies selected will be able to make a short presentation of their work. A meeting / debate, student finalists and teachers, with one or more experts in the sector may also be organized.

Art. 1

Theme: “Free Topic”

Entry fee

  • The entry fee  of  € 290 for each work presented.

Art. 2

Schools, cultural associations of youth, religious or other types of youth clubs can compete by entering a short movie:

  • A spot (maximum 1 minute)
  • A short movie (max 15 minutes)

produced by the students (under 20 years old) with the participation of teachers from the school attended and eventually with the collaboration of external agents.

Schools will be divided into the following categories:

A – Pre-schools and Primary Schools

B – Lower Secondary Schools

C – Upper Secondary Schools

D – Special section – Schools of Cinema, cultural associations of youth, religious or other types of youth clubs.

Who can participate in the competition

All our artistic and cultural events are messengers of peace, love and friendship. Participants, regardless of ethnicity, skin colour, religion and nationality, will be able to participate in the competition without discrimination, in a spirit of mutual respect with the other participants.

Art. 3

The movies can be in Italian, English, Spanish, French or German.

No advertising by the school or the association can be enclosed in the movies.

Each school or association can participate with one or one of both (spot and short movie)

Works not in Italian should be subtitled in Italian or English.

Art. 4

Schools and associations that intend to participate in the competition must send exclusively via email to info@gef.it no later than February 15, 2024:

All works entered must be accompanied by:

  • the film made in mp4 format will be sent with We transfer and then, for safety, brought to Sanremo also on a USB stick
  • A completed registration form.
  • A list of names of the group/class who produced the work
  • A photo of the entire group/class who produced the work
  • Proof of payment of the entry fee of € 290 for each work presented

No other payment methods accepted, no credit cards.

Art. 5

A panel of experts appointed by GEF’s Committee and coordinated by director and screenwriter Massimo Terranova, will select and short-list films for the Sanremo finals and as well as selecting the winning films.

Every finalist school has to be present in Sanremo during GEF’s finals, accommodation prices and conditions on site www.gef.it

Art. 6

Screening of finalist films

Each finalist movie will be screened in Sanremo during the final stages of GEF in the presence of the Jury and participants from the finalist schools

GEF’s organizing committee will not accept any liability for work submitted using faulty materials or in different formats than those requested.

Art. 7

Prizes will be given to the winners of each section and the absolute winner will receive the prestigious “School Creativity Award”

The jury reserves the right to select winners in one or more sections, award two or more winners in the same section and/or award other prizes.

The panel’s decisions are final.

The winning schools will receive their prizes in Sanremo during one of the final performances of GEF 2023 in Ariston Theatre.

A winner not attending the event cannot claim for their prizes later on.

All finalist schools will receive GEF’s participating certificate.

IMPORTANT – Based on the number of finalist entities, the Jury, at its sole and final discretion, for one or both categories, can stipulate a single final ranking for the various joint sections of each category and not for each individual section.

Art. 8

All materials received will remain the property of GEF. Videos will not be returned, as they will go into our archives of the event for artistic and cultural purposes.

Art. 9

Only the Finalist schools/associations selected for the Sanremo Final will be informed by February 29,  2024 with:

– the indication of the selected film

– the Hotel Booking Form

– the SIAE (copyright) form.

– the SIAE release form for performances that require it. All participating schools whose

texts are not subject to SIAE, must send a disclaimer to the Organising Committee.

– personal data processing forms according to the EU regulation n.679/2016 (GDPR)

– consent form (release for the publication of images)

Art. 10

By 10 March 2024, the schools admitted to the final stages must then confirm in writing, exclusively via e-mail, also sending various forms received with our confirmation, duly completed, namely:

– the duly completed Hotel Booking Form. (the copy of the payment for the stay must reach us by 17 March 2024)

– the SIAE (copyright) form duly completed

– the SIAE release form for performances that require it. All participating schools whose  texts are not subject to SIAE, must send a disclaimer  to the Organising Committee.

– personal data processing forms according to the EU regulation n.679/2016 (GDPR), duly completed and signed

– consent form (release for the publication of images), duly completed and signed

– the complete list with name and surname of each official participant, teacher, principal, family members, accompanying persons, etc

Art. 11

GEF may require to sign a release agreement, thus reserving the right to record and/or broadcast the event in its entirety or in part, using any medium (print, photography, radio, television, audio-visual etc.). GEF may also choose to accompany the event with one or more promotion or publicity, without owing any payments to anyone, or to any participants.

Art. 12

All entrants and each school taking part in the competition finals in Sanremo will undertake to pay for its own board and lodgings, For reasons of organization and event management, finalists, accompanying adults and/or anyone spending nights in Sanremo while taking part in GEF 2024, will need to stay at least two nights and book through GEF choosing accommodation from our price list on the website www.gef.it  in order to gain accreditation and be able to take part in the competition finals. (minimum three nights for schools participating in Theatre and Musical).

Each school admitted to the finals will be sent a booking-form by the booking organization outlining modes of payment.

Considering the thousands of bookings processed during the previous edition of GEF, early bookings are highly recommended.

All official participants in GEF’s final stages will receive GEF’s gadgets.

All finalist will be entered into the official GEF bilingual (Italian/English) festival programme.

Art. 13

The final show will take place with performances and awards ceremony for the absolute winners in the Music, Singing, Dance and Fashion competitions on the evening of Saturday April the 20th, 2024 at the Ariston Theatre in Sanremo. Prizes will also be awarded to the winners of other competitions and the GEF 2024 Awards (Entertainment, Music, Sport, Health, etc.) will be presented, including the prestigious ‘Global Education Award’, the only international education award presented every year to personalities and associations who, with thoughts, words and actions, have favoured the development and increase of education.

Art. 14

GEF reserves the right to record and/or film and/or broadcast the event in its entirety or in part, using any medium (print, photography, radio, television, audio-visual, internet, etc.) and to accompany the event with one or more promotion or publicity, without owing any payments to anyone including all participants.

GEF ask to receive the privacy forms filled in and signed.

Art.15

The competition finals in Sanremo may undergo some changes due to technical or organizational factors, however these will be communicated forthwith to all interested parties.

Art.16

All works received will remain the property of GEF. GEF reserves the right to publish or used them in other shows without owing any payments to anyone including all participants.

Art. 17

GEF’s Organizing Committee, the promoting association and the company providing technical support will not accept any liability for personal or material injuries or accidents occurring while travelling or during the Festival.

Art.18

Anyone taking part in the event is expected to have read and understood the conditions set by these regulations and to accept them unconditionally. Participation to the event also implies that each.
