Conditions of Entry
Art.1
The Festival of Musical School will take place in Sanremo during the GEF finals and will see the presentation of Musical produced by Schools, Associations, Companies or Foundations with participants of school age (5/19 years old).
The Festival will include the following activities
– performing Musical in schools
– attending the performances of the other finalist schools
– talking about Musical at school and about Musical with young people
Shows will be performed in Sanremo in Ariston Theater, morning and afternoon, between Thursday the 4th to Saturday the 6th of May, 2023. Prize-giving of winning schools will take place on Saturday evening, May the 6th in Ariston Theater, during the final GEF 2023 show. Participants will be able to attend the following events at the Ariston Theater: Wednesday evening May the 3rd , the sanremoJunior World Finals with solo singers from numerous countries who will perform live accompanied by the SanremoJunior orchestra with 32 musicians; Thursday evening May the 4th, and Friday evening May the 5th , the Finals of the Music, Musical,Dance, Gymnastics and Fashion groups.
The organisation reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of days of the competition on the basis of the participating entities.
Art.2
Association, Companies, Foundations, Italian and foreign State and Private schools in the following sections:
A – Primary Schools
B – Junior High Schools
C – High Schools
D – Music Schools
Each participating body may present 1 or 2 performances with different students. The same student may not participate in more than one performance.
Registration Fees
€ 160 – Competition entry fee for each body (state or private schools, associations, theater company of any kind) that may enter 1 or 2 performances for Selection.
€ 290 – Fee for each performance admitted to the Sanremo Finals.
The GEF Selection Committee will select performances participating in the Finals of the Sanremo Festival of Musical Schoolat its sole and definitive decision.
Art.3
Schools intending to participate must send the enclosed entry form to:
KISMET SRL – GEF – “Festival Internazionale del Musical Scolastico” – Via Roma, 166 – 18038 Sanremo, by 28 February 2023 (postmarked).
Each school may enter a maximum of one Musical.
Students may not participate in both this Festival and any of the other Music and/or Dance Festivals. All participants must be part of the school entered in the competition
Participants must specify if compositions are original, reworked, unpublished or other.
Selected Musical will be performed live by the students in Sanremo, on the stage of Ariston Theater.
Art.4
Internships/ Master Classes
Training sessions will be organised, as internships or master classes, with renowned professionals in the field during the days of the Festival. They will be consistent with the objectives of the Festival and will be profiled and be according to the types of finalist schools, so as to be as effective as possible. Training offered with the participation fee and the application form will be sent later to all the Finalist Schools that will decide whether to participate.
Art.5
Applications must be accompanied by the following, under penalty of exclusion:
- A form in duplicate describing the Musical indicating the origin of the show (original classical text, abridged or reworked or other) and brief director’s notes to gain a better understanding of the research that led to the development of the project and its most relevant features.
- the text in duplicate of the Musical and possibly other documentary material (including work in progress).
- a list of the members of the group (actors, directors, organisers) with full name, date of birth and, if possible, a photo of the whole group. All actors must be students of the school at the time of the performance.
- List of musical pieces performed in the Musical.
- Copy of the payment of the registration fee of € 160 net for each participating body: State or public schools, Associations, Theater Companies of any kind

Art.6
All material sent remains the property of GEF for the uses permitted by law and will not be returned.
Art.7
The performance must not exceed 5 (five) minutes.
The performance must include at least two of the three disciplines including: singing, dancing and acting.
The scenography will be that of a fixed organization that is the same for everyone. It will not be allowed to insert further elements.
Art.8
Selection of the admitted performance(s) for the Sanremo Finals will be communicated by March the 12th, 2023
Selected schools must conform in writing via email by March the 17th, 2023, sending duly filled in forms forms a,b,c & d , with our confirmation:
- Technical form
- SIAE (Copyright) form.
- The SIAE release form for performances that require it. All participating schools whose texts are not subject to SIAE, must send a disclaimer to the Organising Committee.
- The hotel reservation form (total payment by 24 March 2023);
- A list of all official participants, teachers, head and accompanying persons;
- A copy of the receipt for the payment of €290 for each performance selected for the Sanremo Final.
Art.9
Schools admitted to the Festival Finals in Sanremo must take part in the activities referred to in Art. 1, participating for at least 3 days in total with a minimum of 3 overnight stays, although 4 overnight stays are recommended (arrival May the 3rd, departure May the 7th, 2023).
Art.10
The main aim of the festival is to offer all participants the opportunity to experience other situations and creative experiences. Performances and the award ceremonies will therefore be opportunities for exchange and mutual listening. A price has been arranged for accommodation (minimum 3 overnight stays for the Theater and Music Festival Participants) for the finalists, accompanying persons and all those who will have to stay to take part in the final stage of GEF 2023. Types and conditions of which can be found on the website gef.it. For organisational and control reasons, such bookings must be made through GEF (only schools in the province of Imperia are excluded).
Each school participating in the Finals will be sent the form of the Organisation in charge of the booking with instructions.
Considering the thousands of participants in the Final Phases of the various competitions, from Italy and abroad, it is advisable to book as early as possible to more easily arrange the type of stay chosen.
Official participants in the Sanremo Finals of all competitions will receive GEF gadgets.
All Finalist schools will be included in the official bilingual (Italian/English) GEF catalogue.
Art.11
JURIES and AWARDS
Participating work will be judged by a Committee of experts appointed by GEF. The members of the Jury will be Music experts. The decisions of the Selection Committee for the Sanremo Finals are final and decisive. The prestigious “School Creativity Award” will be awarded to the Musical deemed the best in terms of its value. The Jury may award fewer prizes or other prizes ar its sole discretion.
The Jury’s decision are final and decisive.
Schools will be the recipients of the prizes and will also be awarded a certificate.
Prizes will be exclusively delivered on the Stage of the Ariston Theater to the schools present and cannot be awarded or handed over or mailed at a later date.
Art 12
On the evening of Saturday May the 6th, 2023 at the Ariston Theater in Sanremo, the final show will take place with performances and awards for the absolute winners in the Music, Singing, Musica, Dance and Fashion competitions. Prizes will also be awarded to the winners of other competitions and the GEF 2023 Awards (entertainment, music, sport, health, etc.) will be presented, including the prestigious “Global Education Award“, the only international education award presented every year to personalities and associations who, with thoughts, words and actions, have favoured the development and growth of education.
Art. 13
GEF requires all participants to sign a disclaimer (see Art. 14) reserving the right to record and/or film and/or broadcast the event – in whole or in some of its phases – by any means (press, photography, radio, television, audiovisual, internet, etc..) as well as to combine the event with one or more initiatives of a promotional / advertising nature, without any obligation being owed and none of the participants may have any claim.
Art. 14
Schools will have to send the following forms signed and filled in , for each participant:
– Information for the processing of personal data in accordance with EU Regulation No. 679/2016 (GDPR)
– Consent form – (release for circulation of images) – to broadcast footage of the performances.
Art. 15
For technical/organisational reasons, the Sanremo Final phases may be subject to variations, which will be promptly communicated to the interested parties.
Art. 16
All the works submitted will remain property of GEF, which reserves the right to publish them or present them in other shows without any obligation and none of the participants can have anything to claim.
Art. 17
All printed materials and trademarks are protected by Copyright: their use and reproduction by any means is forbidden. Any use not expressly authorised will be prosecuted according to law.
Art. 18
The Organising Committee, the promoting association and the company in charge of the technical organisation are not responsible for occasional accidents to persons or property either during the journey or throughout the duration of the Festival.
Art. 19
Participation in the event implies knowledge and unconditional acceptance of the rules for the processing of personal data in accordance with EU Regulation No. 679/2016 (GDPR).
